David, that is everybody's big problem, how to build an audience. Wanna know how? Hard slog promoting your work on social media like X (Twitter) Instagram, Quora, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tim Tok, etc etc etc. Here on Medium, I have three thousand followers and a thousand on Substack. How, like I said, social media, plus connecting with fellow writers on Medium itself. How? By reading their stories and commenting/supporting them. It is called Reciprocity. You read my stuff and I will read yours, that way we both grow an audience and earn money. Check your stats for each story and see where your reads came from. Where you have the most success is where you should dig for more gold by promoting more heavily in that area. Hope that helps, even if you only put it into practice here on Medium.
