How Writers Can Get Things Moving On Medium
It's A Learning Curve To A Bright New Day
As the new kid on the block at Medium I’m still going round a learning curve here. I have now written and published almost thirty articles and they really are something of a mixed bag of topics. I did that intentionally to see if I could find what would work best in terms of finding a readership.
At the beginning my stats were just horizontal and vertical lines of zeros, which was a little depressing. So I set about seeing what I could do to improve upon that.
First of all I started to include what I thought were eye catching photos. A lot of the photos are my own which I took on my iPad, and I’m quite pleased with the results. Having said that I have changed one or two photos and still may change even more yet.
A little tip on the photo front. When I couldn’t find what I wanted copyright free on the internet, and I didn’t have anything to hand at home, let us say a bowl of cold tomato soup for an article on Spanish cuisine, I asked my friends for any photos they might have I could use and they were only too happy to help. This had the additional benefit that my friends were delighted to go to the article to see their own photos up on screen, and this increased the views and the readership.
