I call it the democratisation of world music.

Due to the Interwebs, we are currently enjoying a massive decentralization of the sources of music. If we had to rely on record companies/musical sources that were in effect in the 1960’s through the 90’s, we’d never hear a trace of these obscure foreign sources. At least not here in the States.
