I did explain my side to my children and as I explained to you, they did not react well to it. That was what caused the rift. I only kept silent during their highly vulnerable childhood. However, by the time I did explain, in their twenties, it was too late, they had already been brainwashed by their mother and her parents. They see their mother as a saint and me as the devil incarnate. She is ‘the best mum in the world’ and I am ‘the worst dad in the world.’ Her narrative won out over mine. The estrangement has become permanent despite several attempts on my part to build bridges in a good way. My overtures were rejected. I can do no more. It is something I have had to learn to live with. Fortunately, I am in a very loving and caring relationship and have been for almost ten years now. It is what it is. Thank you for your interest.
