Stripe is a bloody nightmare and has been for three months. They suspended my Medium and Vocal Media payments until I updated my details. They insisted that I upload some form of Government photo ID. No problem, my British passport. Nope, not a valid document as I am an ex-pat Brit living in Japan. Had to be my Japanese Visa. No problem. Yes, they accepted it then rejected it the next day. Live chat tested the photo and said it was fine. That went on for weeks. Also, they keep emailing me in Japanese, which I cannot read. By the time I got my wife to translate it, they timed me out. They also ‘lost’ my Vocal Media account and money. Then they suspended all three of my beehiiv accounts. They want me to spend a lot of money on registering a business. How the fcuk can I register a dead duck in the water as a business? Then they insisted that I write and publish a Commercial Disclosure Notice, which I did and sent them screenshots but they cannot see the notice. And they refuse point blank to activate my new beehiiv accounts, which means I cannot open for business, which means I have just spent $90 on hosting and advertising the site for sweet FA. The doors are locked and potential subscribers are walking away. Betcha sorry you asked, huh?
