The key to what is going on is there for all to see in plain view. The problem is ‘Views’. I take views to mean people who have had the opportunity to see a story in the first place. If there is nothing to see then there is nothing to click on and read, simple. The correlation between ‘Views’ and ‘Reads’ is set in stone. Ergo, if views are down, due to an intentional act to limit distribution, then it is clear that it is an attempt to reduce reads and payments to all writers. In January, I stopped writing and posting on Medium until such time as they see the error of their ways. At the time of writing my monthly payment is stuck at $2.45. At this rate, I will not even cover my monthly subscription. This is a far cry from the $676.26 I earned last September with 36k views and 25k reads! In effect, I feel like Medium is telling me that they do not want me any more. It would be nice to see them have the balls to tell me that to my face. If as I expect I do not cover my monthly sub at the end of this month, then I will cancel my subscription and go all in on Substack and my own writing sites.
