The Life And Times Of A Writer

Almost every day I read about writer success stories in the world of literature. I almost choke on my hot buttered toast as I read of how the latest hot thing writer has landed an amazing million dollar book deal. And sometimes we are treated to the inside story about how they did it. Personally I don't begrudge them a single cent, I just wish it just didn't feel like I was having my nose rubbed in my lack of gold bullion success.

I’ve been writing for a great many years now, and yes, I have had my successes, just not the Bentley on the drive and yacht in the harbour kind of success. And now my long suffering wife, tired of waiting for that lottery win book deal, has left me for some rich Lothario who does sweet bugger all except count his moolah. As for me, there’s nothing in the rusty old fridge and the dog has shat all over the worn out kitchen linoleum.

But hey, I’m a writer

There’s nothing wrong with talking yourself up, trying to appear successful, but at least add a pinch of salt and pepper reality to make it more convincing.

My long suffering wife has long since left me? Jeez I would leave me if I could. But I just can’t get away from me.

But hey, I’m a writer

When I go out for an evening walk to try to get away from me for an hour I just seem to follow me…
